Richard Matheson, probably best known for writing vampire book "I Am Legend", which has been filmed 3 times, has died aged 87.

He also wrote the short story, "The Shrinking Man", that was famously filmed in the 50s as "The Incredible Shrinking Man", and the script for the famous "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" for The Twilight Zone, where William Shatner watches a gremlin pulling an aircraft wing to pieces in mid flight. Steven Spielberg's first big success "Duel" was also pased on one of Matheson's stories.

He wrote one of my all time favourite books "What Dreams May Come". Thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately it didn't translate well to the screen as it was an absolute dog of a film starring Robin Williams.
