As anticipated the roll out for "Cry Pretty" video has begun. American Idol on ABC Network Sunday night at 8e/5p there's a sneak peek of Carrie's new music video. The hype begins.

Keeping the PROPER COUNTRY spirit going:

(4 May 2018) Kayla Ray - Yesterday and Me (Kayla Ray Music Co.)
12 Tracks/ Time: 41:00

Amazon UK - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yesterday-Me-E ... B07CSQKCDF
UK iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/yeste ... 1378824020
SPOTIFY - https://open.spotify.com/album/2EvdhZj1 ... X5iEWh87uQ

A new name to me Texan singer-songwriter Kayla Ray brand new album is co-produced by Jason Eady and it has lashings of country sounds.
Her last album (2014) is great too and have bought tracks!
WHAT FOLKS HAVE TO SAY:
" If y'all need me, I'll be falling face first in love with Kayla Ray, who is apparently the musical love-child of Brandi Carlile and Willie Nelson, and Angelina Presley must've been the baby sitter who was having an affair with Merle Haggard.

kev wrote:New Kinky Friedman album due soon, "The Circus of Life". This from the Houston Chronicle:

He has a new album due called "Spitfire" [now retitled "Circus of Life"] that includes all new original songs, his first set since "Lasso From El Passo," which came out in 1976. Here's his description of the album's creation, which begins with a phone call from Willie Nelson at 3 a.m.

"He said, 'What are you doing?' I told him I was watching 'Matlock,'" Friedman says. "Willie said, 'Turn it off, that's a sure sign of depression. Turn it off and start writing.' So I was inspired by Willie to write 12 songs. And these 12 Willie-inspired songs, they're very different than what I've written over the years. I guess because I've had decades of not writing songs now. Stuff is percolating."

Among the songs: "Jesus in Pajamas," "A Dog Named Freedom" and "Circus of Life."

Copies are going to be available at his dates in the US in April, hope to see it here soon. I really hope it's better than his last release ... it was good to hear him recording again but it was a very patchy affair!

Edit: and lo and behold, the first single from the album is out today! "Autographs in the Rain (Song to Willie)" is up on Spotify and CD Baby (can't see it on youtube yet). Nothing earth shattering but it's definitely got that ol' Kinky drawl!

GRETCHEN PETER's new album "DANCING WITH THE BEAST" came out Friday, just in time for her UK tour. A strong collection of thoughtful songs as we have come to expect from Ms Peters.

COWBOY TROY's new album "LAUGH WITH ME" starts off great with "AS Long as it's In Texas" , a sort of Texas waltz, but there is quite a bit of nonsense, too, gimicky stuff going back to Troy's hick hop roots & a few other ballads, as if he can't really decide what he wants to do.

"LOVE LIVES ON" -DANA FUCHS

Very much at the blues end of things, Dana Fuchs sound has been compared to Janis Joplin & strung out era Rolling stones. She certainly can sing. I am enjoying this album. quality, rootsy music.

"PRODIGAL SON" is the latest album from roots maestro, Ry Cooder.

It's No.34 on the UK Official Album Top 100 midweek chart.
I don't know if there are any notes online or come with the physical CD to explain what the songs are about. The social intelligentsia commentary and use of metaphors is often hard to understand. Who is the above lyric video about? The music however is always top class.

Impresive new album from Americana/ country rock outfit American Aquarium.
The album is titled "Things Change" and includes a searing look at post-2016 America and the destruction of American ideals and values in the past 2 tumulteous years.

I just came across this trio courtesy of the guys at No Depression. The Real sarahs have an album out titked "Headed For the Hills", which is great, jorous, country/ folk/ roots music. I could only find the acapella thing from them on Youtube, but on disc as well as their wonderful there is great, uncluttered instrumentaion, fiddle and guitar. Worth checking out

This could be interesting ... will certainly be worth a listen! Taken from Saving Country Music.

“King of the Road” Roger Miller Tribute Album On The Way

Announced on Wednesday (6-20), a massive tribute album dedicated to the King of the Road will be making its way to music lovers. And though tribute records come down the pike all the time and make you wonder if your time and money is worth heaping onto songs you already know not sung by the original artist, this one seems to have a little something special in the recipe.

All of your favorite Roger Miller songs like “Chug-A-Lug,” “Dang Me,” “Husbands and Wives,” and other more obscure ones will be included of course, and so will a handsome list of contributors that includes Dwight Yoakam, Jamey Johnson, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell, Kacey Musgraves, and a few names outside of the country realm such as Toad The Wet Sprocket.

The 31 tracks of King Of The Road: A Tribute to Roger Miller will be released on August 31st. The project was produced by Colby Barnum Wright of Wright of Center Music, as well as Roger Miller’s son Dean.

King Of The Road: A Tribute to Roger Miller TRACK LIST:

Asleep at the Wheel featuring Huey Lewis – “Chug-a-Lug”
Brad Paisley – “Dang Me”
The Stellas/Lennon and Maisy – “Leavin’s Not the Only Way to Go”

(21 May 2018) Missouri Mile - A Million Miles Away (BHP Recordings)
Easily one of my favourite albums of the year so far.
Not heard of them before great new EP and strong back catalogue.
Hard to define genre wise but fall into Americana. Really easy and nice on the ear, great harmonies and free of twang

Saw that one on sale in Texas last week. Enjoyed the first one but thought Vol 2 had an uninspiring selection of songs on it!
